BROCHURES AND PRESS RELEASES
BROCHURES
ON MEDICAL PHYSICS AND ENGINEERING:
In 2010 I wrote
Improving
Treatments, Saving Lives: The Importance of Physics, Engineering and
Technology in UK Healthcare for the Institute of Physics and Engineering in
Medicine (IPEM). This is available to download from the ‘For Public and Patients’ section
of the IPEM website.
Between
2005 and 2009, I wrote a series of 'Spotlight' brochures for
the
Institute
of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM) highlighting
how new
and emerging physics and engineering research is used within medicine
to benefit patients. These brochures are also available to download
from the
‘For Public and Patients’ section
of the IPEM
website.
I wrote Spotlight numbers 2
to 6 inclusive: 'Positron Emission Tomography/Computerised Tomography
Imaging', 'Optical Techniques in Medical Imaging’, 'Electronic
Technology for Independent Living', ‘Proton and Ion Therapy’, and ‘New
Applications in Magnetic Resonance Imaging’.
CAREERS BROCHURES AND
LEAFLETS:
In 2008, I co-wrote (with Taj Bhutta) the
Institute
of Physics (IOP) 'Physics at A-level’ leaflet.
This is available to download from the
careers resources for teachers section
of the IOP
website.
Meanwhile
in 2006, I wrote two brochures promoting careers in clinical science
and engineering: 'Just the Job' for 15-18 year olds, and 'Moving on Up'
for graduates, for the
Institute
of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM).
PRESS RELEASES:
Between 2000 and 2004,
I wrote press releases for the following conferences run by
the
Institute
of Physics:
2 releases for
the Condensed Matter and Materials Physics (CMMP) Conference in April
2004; 1 release for the CMMP Conference in April 2003; 5 releases for
the 26th International Conference on the Physics of Semiconductors in
July 2002; 5 releases for the CMMP Conference in April 2002; 1 release
for the Dielectrics Group Meeting in December 2001; 6 releases for the
CMMP Conference in December 2000; and 6 releases for the Applied Optics
and Opto-Electronics Conference in September 2000.
