If you are interested in becoming a science writer, you will probably find the  'So you want to be a science writer'? section of the Association of British Science Writers’ website helpful. I also recommend reading the Writers' & Artists' Yearbook published by Bloomsbury. This contains a wealth of information, including contact details and rates of pay for many newspapers and magazines, as well as advice on submitting material to editors.
