I had a great experience delivering some Science Communications training for academics from the King’s Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery & Palliative Care at King’s College London on April 30th. My thanks to Claire Sewell and Jemima Skala for asking me to give the workshop and helping me to develop it, and to all of the enthusiastic attendees for making me feel so welcome.
I gave a remote talk ‘From Arias to Atomic Physics’ about my unconventional career path for the Women+ in Physics group at Royal Holloway, University of London on Wednesday March 25th. This episode features the sculptor Jonathan Hateley and ties in with my Understanding Solid State Physics textbook as we discuss the materials and methods that he uses to create his works.
I was delighted to be asked to give some public speaking training as part of the Institute of Physics (IOP) Student Community Welcome Day at the IOP headquarters in London. I was chair for the session ‘Pitching science broadcast media: UK vs Germany’ at the UK Conference of Science Journalists 2024 held at The Francis Crick Institute, London.
